Review by T. Cunningham : Corsair Speakers
I read a review of these speakers in Maximum PC magazine. I needed a new set, and while they were more than I wanted to pay, I thought I would give them a try. I'm very glad I did. They sound excellent. They are easy to hook up, don't take up much space (except for the sub), and the desktop controller makes it easy to adjust the volume or settings. My only complaint is that I didn't realize how big the sub is. It was a little challenging finding a good spot for it, but it's my fault for not reading the specs closely enough. Overall, these are an excellent set of speakers, and I would highly recommend them to anyone interested in a quality sound system for their computer.
Review by Vin : Great Speakers Wish they had a digital input though
As all the other reviews have stated these are excellent sounding speakers. For those of you who think they are pricey go to Best Buy and check out the Bose Companion Series 2.1 series speakers they have 2 variants and both are usually on display at BB the ones that sound almost as good as the Corsair Set is 369$ so no I don't think they are pver priced. I bought this set for my PC and Xbox 360 hooked up to my brand new LED LCD TV I should have remmebered that everything has been flipped to digital on new TV's and that they no longer have RCA outputs for the most part so I have to buy a 50-60$ adapter so I can plug in my Xbox cause there is no digital input on this system. I know that it would be overkill to have a digital input on a 2.1 setup but it would have been nice if it had the digital converter built in.
Review by D. Snow : Corsair SP2500: Incredible Value
I'm going to preface review by saying that, while I'm not an audiophile, I have substantially more knowledge than the average consumer about audio equipment. Buying new headphones and speakers is kind of my hobby. I've now had my SP2500 for approximately a week, giving me ample time to test them out with a variety of music genres and inputs. I listen to classical music, hip hop, electronic, and some alternative rock. It handles all these with amazing detail and clarity. The bass is deep and powerful, but not overbearing in the slightest, thanks to each individual speaker getting its own amplifier. The SP2500 also retains clarity at 100% volume, which is extraordinarily loud (I like my music loud overall, and it even had me flinching). I generally like to keep it around 70% to 80% when I want to play loud, and it's enough to fill my house without hurting my ears. This system comes with an 8" side-firing subwoofer, and the thing is absolutely gigantic. Looking at pictures of it online will not prepare you. It's not a problem for me, but if you are severely constrained with your space, it's definitely something to consider. It also has two satellites, each with a 3" driver to carry the midrange and a 1" tweeter to sustain the highs. A fantastic thing about these speakers is that every frequency stays where it should be at any volume level. For example, on many computer speakers/iPod docks, the bass becomes disproportionately lower as the volume goes down overall. Not with these. I don't play PC games, but I do play my 360. Hooking these up and playing Halo Reach was amazing. When a grenade went off near me, I didn't just hear it, I felt it. And even though this is a 2.1 system, direction was still easy to pinpoint. While I can't speak highly enough about these speakers, if I had to pick out a flaw, it would be that songs that have a heavy midrange (like rock) sound slightly muffled. But really, that's only in comparison to the sky-scraping standards of the rest of this system; rock sounds better on this than any other computer speakers or iPod dock I've heard, so it's still the best you can get. When it comes to my hip hop, I'm a bit of a bass-head. While I don't want it to overpower the mids and highs, I want to feel it. Let me tell you from experience, this is the best bass you can get on any computer system or iPod dock at ANY price point. It's deep and low and incredibly multi-faceted. And when I blast Tupac's "Changes" at 80%, I can feel the bass vibrating my clothes while the piano notes stay crisp. It's amazing. I was able to compare it to other bass-oriented systems, too; a friend lives in the back of my house, and he's been going through different iPod docks trying to find the right one. He had the Altec Lansing inMotion MIX iPod dock, and my system handily defeated it in all areas. After having to return the MIX three times to Amazon because of defects, he finally ordered the Beats by Dre dock. I was a little worried... was this where he would finally find the bass to overpower mine? The answer? Absolutely not. The bass doesn't hit as hard and sounds muddy when compared to the SP2500 (though bass is still good compared to other docks... it's just no contest in comparison to the SP2500), and the mids and highs were really compromised on his system. The Beats dock didn't even get as loud as the SP2500, which surprised me a little. I'm rambling now, so I'll try to end this quickly. Simply put, this system is the best audio purchase I have ever made. It is great for all types of music and video games at any audio level. And if you love bass, this can definitely provide that; it easily bests systems that are two or three times the price of this that are specifically built for that purpose! Words really can't describe how much I love these. If you're at all on the fence, order these (whether they're for your TV, computer, or even MP3 player) and try them out. Don't take my word for it. These are the best value in any speaker system at any price. Do it. You know you want to.
Review by Duffytrader : Best 2.1 system currently out there
This is an awesome system even at a higher price. While I prefer a puck volume control, this one aint bad. The Razor Mako was discontinued and I don't have room for the Logitech 5500 5.1 THX....after 15 hours of research I ordered these....holy cow they are awesome...the Dynamic Pop setting combined with Classical(Equalizer) is my go to all around setting and yes you can pipe this loud without distortion...Not one professional reviewer had a bad thing to say about these and now I know why......Alright, realistically there has to be something wrong so here it is...two minor issues....no optical...what the heck guys, this should be standard....speaker wires are way short....should be twice as long at a minimum....I use these for Skype meetings at home and music, not gaming....gaming which they're designed for I can only imagine would sound insane...I've never felt compelled to write a review about anything before...this is my first on Amazon
Review by S. Frost : Awesome for How I Use Them!
I am a bit older so don't have the ears of the younger crowd but I do like crunching and thundering bass for the movie soundtracks that I listen to while working. I have these hooked up to my Mac Pro and use iTunes with custom EQ settings. I have these speakers set to Action Gaming EQ mode with NO room simulation. I have a custom EQ config in iTunes that has bass up with treble up as well. I used to have a very old set of Surround Sound Klipsch THX speakers that started to get static in the sound. To me, for a computer setup, surround sound is a novelty (even for gaming) and I decided to go with a 2.1 setup. These Corsair speakers are really great and I am quite pleased so far. I recommend trying to get the sub a bit further from your desk so you can feel the rumble of the bass and use your computer EQ to adjust the settings to where you want audio. I even like the little angled speaker stands that point the audio up at you rather than at your stomach while sitting. I have tried a lot of soundtracks and rock music as well and everything transitions nicely requiring almost no volume or EQ adjustment. I went from Mazzy Star (folk rock) to Tron Legacy - End of Line (deep bass electronica) and didn't have to touch a thing in volume or EQ. I have the Sub set to almost at the top of the GREEN level and don't need it to go into RED (this is on the remote control dial settings). Oh, I also love the ability to silence the sub woofer with the push of a button on the remote while the speakers continue to play. That is really cool and probably works for someone in an apartment or at night..
Review by solidstate : The REAL Review..
I wanted to buy a set of speakers that would last me 5-10yrs long. These will certainly do the job. total 10, all around. to give you an idea of how good these speakers are, i turned the volume all the way up on both my computer and the speakers themselves. there was absolutely NO distortion what so ever. the sound was crystal clear with an enormous bass response. i have an eclectic library of music that i listen to, but typically i enjoy modern hip hop. the sub-woofer is absolutely amazing. this unit has two amps, one powering the woofer and one powering both satellites which is why the sub-woofer box is so large. any-who, the neighbors might hate me for purchasing this unit, but i absolutely love it. and who would have thought, corsair? lol
Review by Polski : I am in heaven.
IF YOUR SUB SEEMS TO DIE PLEASE READ THIS! It turns out that I had muted the sub on accident from the remote control... I had no clue that the speakers AND the sub can be muted separately. If it seems your sub is dead, look at the remote control. At the very bottom center there is an icon that looks kind of like your sub... well that's what it is. If it isn't bright, then press the sub button on the remote (bottom right button) and then press down on the volume control. If it's bright now, that means you had accidentally muted it. I feel like a fool. Thanks again Corsair guys! EDIT: I have had the system for 3 or 4 days now. Today the sub just died... it didn't blow out, it just died. I haven't come anywhere close to max settings, so I hope this is just a fluke. I called up Amazon and within 5min they had the replacement on the way, next day air. Thumbs up for the support guys, top notch. I will post back in a couple of weeks after getting the new ones in and playing with them for a bit. SO SADDDDD I want my system back!!! Wow. Just wow. I got these bad boys setup properly, and started listening to different kinds of music and changing settings and the such. All I can say is wow. I have a nice Gamecom 777 surround sound headset, and the SP2500 2.1 system sounds VERY close when you are in the "sweet spot". Bass. HOLY BASS. I live on the 3rd story at my apartments and I was playing some dubstep and went downstairs and put my hand on the wall and could feel it. This is turned up a little past halfway, with bass output about the same. I am scared to turn them up louder. So time for some BC2. Clean, clear, crisp everything. Again, very close to the 777's when it comes to surround as long as it's setup right. I can tell a massive difference in directional sound from my last speaker set. I am a very, very happy fragger to say the least. Everything feels very solid, good quality. I have heard people complain about the length of the speaker cords but I had no such problem... but that's just how my desk is setup. Overall, I would give 6 stars if I could. Money very well spent!
Review by Alec : Corsair Keeps it Up!
Amazing Product. Fantastic Sound, Sleek Look. I upgraded from a bad 5:1 Logitect system and I am overly happy. Fantastic for music and video games. Great for movies, but not as superb, however it is still amazing. Very loud when I want it to, I can hear it from outside. Subwoofer is powerful! Remote control is easy to learn and very efficient. Amazing product from Corsair!.
Review by Adam Cihon : Great Setup....little pricey, but worth it.
I bought these speakers for both PC and Xbox 360 use, as well as music and movies. Build Quality: Excellent. The subwoofer is made of sturdy wood and weighs a ton. The satellites are a perfect balance of hefty quality plastic and being too light. It has a total of three inputs which is nice. The desktop controller allows you to switch between them all. The free rca and pc cables are a thoughtful touch. Sound Quality: Excellent. Its amazing how clear and how 3D this 2.1 setup seems. I've been playing Bioshock 2 and the little sisters singing are awesome. In Halo Reach I can hear where the enemy is. Music has great clarity as well as punchiness. My wife's favorite part is the late night setting shifts the base from the subwoofer to the satellites. Price: 260 is what I paid (with shipping), but that was the week they came out. If they were closer to 215 this would be on everyone's desk. Ultimately, I'd buy them again in a heartbeat.
Review by Chris : <3 Corsair
Time for my Biased review which probally wont count for much. I am not a audiophile and I dont know much about speakers. I do have quite good hearing though, I can usually hear something before my dog does, and I can hear a out of tune violin in a full Orchestra. I like Corsair products they have NEVER faild me. In my current setup I use their Power Supply, RAM, Solid State Drive and all are performing as intended. Naturally when I heard Corsair wanted to branch into Audio I went ahead and replaced my old $12 CA speakers to support the company. I cant tell you what a audiophile can because I dont know what a "good" speaker is. I will tell you that these sound better than my friends Sound sticks and ALMOST on par with my Harmon Kardon surround sound in my car! This was a major step up for me, All my life I never invested into a speaker, and I honestly couldn't be more happy! Not sure about the neighbors though when you really crank it up bass really has some kick to it.I chose these over the M-Audio Steriophile 2.0, Creative T20 2.0, Soundsticks III, and Logitech Z623. And like you guys I did lots and lots of research. So good luck on your hunt! I will vouch for these 2.1 speakers though, money well spent!Chris
